To create clothes that last.
That is our claim.
Our Egyptian cotton socks will last you through many steps, days and washes if you give them a little attention when washing them.
How do you wash cotton socks properly?
1. Temperature: less is more
The ideal washing temperature for cotton socks is 30 to 40 degrees.
That's enough – even for white socks or heavily used tennis socks.
60 degrees? 90 degrees? Please, no. This isn't a tablecloth.
High temperatures can make even the best cotton fibers brittle, shrink, or permanently deform. Long-staple cotton, such as Giza 94, especially loses its natural elasticity and softness when exposed to heat.
2. Wash socks inside out – small trick, big effect
Turning your socks inside out protects the outer layer from friction in the drum. This helps preserve their shape and color, prevents pilling, and protects the fibers. It's a simple action—but one that makes a noticeable difference. It also washes out sweat residue and skin particles more thoroughly.
3. Detergent: gentle is sufficient
Use a mild detergent for cotton – no bleach, no fabric softener, no unnecessary additives.Even if it sounds tempting, bleaching cotton is not a good idea.
Especially with white socks, a dash of baking soda helps – it brightens them up without damaging them.
4. Dryer? Better not.
Dryer heat is stressful for cotton. The fibers shrink, their elasticity is lost, and socks lose their shape.
Instead, let them air dry flat. Gently. Quietly. Just right.
And if you're particularly careful: a laundry bag provides additional protection against mechanical abrasion during washing.
5. One last request:
Please don't wash your comfortable socks together with 1-euro polyester socks, which after three rounds in the washing machine feel like packaging material and smell like a gym.
Your comfortable socks deserve more. And so do your feet, by the way.
Cotton vs. Polyester – a topic especially when washing
Polyester is uncomplicated but undemanding.
It can withstand high temperatures, but loses its shape, retains odors, and releases microplastics.
Our pure cotton, on the other hand, thrives on care. It prefers a more relaxed approach – and in return, it gives you comfort, breathability, and a natural feel.
If you treat it well, you will get a lot out of it for a long time – and you won’t have to buy new ones after every season.
Care isn't an extra. It's part of the idea.
Our products are not made for quick consumption, but for real use.
If you treat your beqem socks with the same attention we gave to developing them, you won't just see the difference - you'll feel it.
Because good clothes last. And because sometimes that's exactly what matters.
